Multiplication

I have asked students to practice at  home one multiplication problem a day.

They are to practice multiplying a two-digit number by a two-digit number.  Example: 48X52=2496

When students can do this multiplication, they are to gradually work up to the 5th grade standard of multiplying a 3 digit number by a 3 digit number.

Math Homework

THANK YOU to parents for helping your children with homework! We have a very high % of students with completed math assignments in 5th grade. There is usually math homework every night. Students write the assignment in their agendas. Students can take home their hardcover math textbooks to help them with the homework packet.  In the homework packet is a letter to families telling what topics we are studying in that unit.

Math Homework--Basic Facts

I have asked math students to practice, at home, basic multiplication/division facts through the twelves for 5 minutes a night. It is essential that students know the facts quickly because we will soon be working with large numbers. Students need to know all multiplication facts through 12X12 by the end of September and all division facts through 144/12  by the end of October.   A good website for multiplication facts is www.multiplication.com

Welcome

Welcome to my homeroom students and to my math students! This will be an exciting year because students are switching classes for each subject. I look forward to getting to know all 5th grade students!
